Foreclosure filings started picking up again in August, rising 7% across the country from July as lenders caught up with processing delays. Nationwide, the filings were down 33% from August 2010, according to data released today by RealtyTrac, an Irvine, Calif.-based foreclosure Web site.

Seattle foreclosure rates fall while nation’s rise

Foreclosure activity drops sharply nationwide

Filings fell 14% from January and 27% from a year earlier, according to RealtyTrac. The decline is attributed to a major overhaul of the process and court challenges by homeowners.
